About Us

Something simple, but important

A space where people feel comfortable, supported, and part of something — built from lived experience, with real opportunity at its heart.

Why we started

The Kindness Project was created to be something simple, but important — a space where people feel comfortable, supported, and part of something.

We work with young people and individuals living with disability, many of whom have experienced foster care, instability, or limited access to opportunity. We saw how often people fall through the gaps — not because they don’t want to try, but because the right support or opportunity just isn’t there at the right time. So we built something different.

What we do

We create a space where people can come in, connect, learn, and build confidence in a way that feels natural. That looks like weekly creative programs, practical skill-based programs like coffee training, workshops and community activities, and a welcoming space where people feel comfortable showing up.

We focus on real experiences — not just support, but participation.

Our space

Everything we do runs out of one shared space. It’s a place where programs run, people connect and opportunities happen. We’ve built it to feel fun, yet calm and easy to spend time in.

Our community gift store

Our store is the heart of the project. Our employees are local women and they are part of the day-to-day operations. We pay award wages, creating a real work environment where people can build confidence, develop skills, and feel valued.

Why it matters

For many of the people we support, it’s not big things that hold them back — it’s the small barriers. When those barriers are removed, things change. They get involved and they build real skills.

Why this was created

The Kindness Project was created from lived experience of the foster care system, disability care, and the gaps that exist within it. That experience has shaped how this space has been built — with a focus on making things practical, supportive, and real.

The goal has always been simple: to create something that feels different — a cool space to feel comfortable, and have access to genuine opportunities.

What we’re building

We are continuing to grow The Kindness Project into a space that brings together community, opportunity, and real support. Through programs, partnerships, and everyday interactions, we’re creating pathways that help people feel connected, capable, and part of something.
